Blue Earth Capital AG (BlueEarth), a global impact investment firm, has, through its investment vehicles, committed $ 16 million to Creation Investments Social Ventures Fund V (Creation V), a private equity fund managed by Creation Investments Capital Management (Creation Investments), who today announced the final close of Creation V. The fund is strongly oversubscribed with more than $ 270 million commitments.
Creation V invests in high growth financial institutions that provide access to financial services to low-income individuals and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in emerging markets, including Latin America and Asia.
A majority of the 1.8 billion unbanked individuals globally reside in emerging markets. More than 85% of the population in Creation V’s target markets is either unbanked or underbanked. An estimated 1 billion MSMEs in emerging markets lack access to financial services, despite often being the primary employers in their countries and significant contributors to GDP.
Creation Investments, a global impact investment manager, has a strong track record of generating financial and social returns[1]. Companies supported by Creation Investments serve more than 29.6 million customers, of which 54% are female and 1.6 million are MSMEs, with over $ 15.7 billion in micro and small business loans outstanding, $ 5.8 million micro-insurance policies, $ 4.1 billion in micro-savings, and $ 3.7 billion payments processed[2].
